In order to raise awareness and equip students with essential life skills in a modern school environment, Van Hien University has successfully organized the seminar " Emergency Escape Skills in Case of Fire and Elevator Entrapment" for VHUers.

The goal of the program is not only to provide theoretical knowledge but also to create conditions for students to practice practical skills and be ready to respond to emergency situations. This is also one of the meaningful activities in the series of events to celebrate the 28th anniversary of Van Hien University's establishment (11/7/1997 – 11/7/2025).

The topic was accompanied by experienced speakers from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police, including Major Phan Van Anh Thi, Major Do Trong Duc and Major Pham Truong Thanh. These speakers shared in-depth about the causes of fires, how to make effective escape plans, detailed instructions on how to use fire extinguishers (powder cylinders and CO2 cylinders) and safety rules in operating and using elevators.

Students of Van Hien University gain hands-on experience in the program

The highlight of the program is the live firefighting practice at Trong Dong Hall, where students can use mini fire extinguishers by themselves to extinguish simulated fires, practice reflexes and bravery in emergency situations.

Important skills shared at the seminar include:
  • How to protect the respiratory tract and the direction of emergency exit in the event of a fire.
  • How to use wet wipes and crawl to avoid inhaling toxic fumes.
  • Things to do when stuck in the elevator: stay calm, use the emergency button, absolutely do not pry the door.
  • How to identify and use the right type of fire extinguisher for each space.
  • Rules for maintenance, safe and efficient use of elevators.

At the event, VHUers also had a direct Q&A with reporters, shared practical situations, solved questions and jointly found the optimal handling direction in hypothetical scenarios.

The seminar "Emergency Escape Skills in Case of Fire and Elevator Entrapment" was more than just a lesson—it was a life-saving experience that delivered highly practical value to VHUers. Through this session, students were equipped with essential self-protection skills, raised their awareness of community responsibility, and contributed to building a safer, healthier, and more proactive learning and living environment.

Van Hien University students are always accompanied in the journey of comprehensive learning and development, so that they are firm in the face of life's challenges. It is believed that through practical activities like this, each VHUers will be equipped with “priceless preparation” to protect themselves and more, join hands to build a safer and more peaceful living environment for the whole community.
