In alignment with its educational philosophy of application-oriented training and comprehensive learner development, Van Hien University consistently promotes academic activities grounded in real-world relevance. A prominent example of this commitment is the 5th Intercollegiate Japanese Speech Contest for the 2024–2025 academic year, organised by the Faculty of Oriental Studies, under the meaningful theme: 「人生の転機」– Turning Points in Life. This event formed a highlight in the series of activities commemorating the 28th anniversary of Van Hien University.

More than a conventional academic competition, this year’s contest served as a vital bridge between linguistic knowledge, cultural understanding, and critical thinking – essential competencies in today’s professional landscape.
Inspired by the theme "Turning Points in Life", the contest invited participants to reflect upon and share their personal experiences of significant life changes. Entrants could choose to either compose a written essay or produce a video clip in Japanese. Through these formats, students were encouraged to refine their language skills, develop cultural sensitivity, and learn to connect emotionally with an audience – all of which form the foundation of effective communication in a globalised society.
Aiming to expand its reach and foster greater academic exchange, the competition welcomed participants from universities and colleges across the country offering Japanese language programmes. The event provided an excellent platform for Van Hien University students to showcase their abilities, while also cultivating connections and learning from peers within the same field.

Final Results of the Competition:
• First Prize: Đinh Thị Hồng Nhung – Nguyen Tat Thanh University
• Second Prize: Nguyễn Hoàng Bảo Khuê – University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City
• Third Prize: Võ Nguyễn Hoàng Phúc – Van Hien University

The successful conclusion of the 5th Intercollegiate Japanese Speech Contest stands as a testament to Van Hien University’s unwavering commitment to its educational mission: to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are confident in their integration into the global community and prepared to navigate life’s turning points with resilience and adaptability.
