On the afternoon of June 30, the Faculty of Tourism at Van Hien University successfully organized a talkshow themed “Life Stories – Career Insights,” attracting over 300 students, along with numerous delegates, lecturers, and business representatives from the tourism, hospitality, and travel sectors.
The event aims to connect students with real-world career experiences through authentic stories and practical insights shared by industry experts. It also serves as a platform to provide students with orientation, essential knowledge, and skills in preparation for entering the labor market.

The program featured guest speakers including Mr. Vo Minh Trung – Director of Riverside Hotel, Mr. Nguyen Bao Toan – Director of the Vietnam Tour Guide Operation Center (Vietravel), and Dr. Le Hong Vuong – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Tourism. With many years of experience in management and operations, the speakers shared practical insights centered on career development journeys in the tourism and service industries.

During the event, speaker Vo Minh Trung provided an in-depth analysis of the role of modern hotel managers within the context of a continuously evolving service industry. Covering both operational perspectives and service strategies, he emphasized the importance of segment-specific customer care, user experience management, and the flexible handling of unexpected service situations. Through practical examples involving process improvements, data analysis, and staff training, he helped Van Hien students gain a clearer understanding of the real-world demands of hotel management.

With over 27 years of experience leading thousands of delegations across 77 countries, speaker Nguyen Bao Toan offered a vivid perspective on the tour guiding profession. Drawing from his personal journey, he highlighted the essential qualities for success in the field—professionalism, emotional self-control, and adaptability in the face of adversity. He emphasized: “Success doesn't come from luck, but from persistence, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility for every guest's experience.”

In the Q&A session, students raised questions about career choices, adaptability in dynamic work environments, and personal concerns about their development paths. The speakers responded with thoughtful insights, analyzed specific professional situations, and offered valuable advice on soft skills, foreign language proficiency, and a progressive attitude in the workplace.

Dr. Le Hong Vuong – Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Tourism – also encouraged students to actively engage with businesses, continuously develop their professional skills, and set clear goals while still in university. According to him, effective learning should not be confined to academic knowledge alone, but must also be grounded in real-world experience and sustained personal growth.

The talkshow provides students with a valuable opportunity to gain direct insights into industry practices, develop a clearer understanding of job requirements, and chart sustainable career development pathways. It also inspires them to cultivate a professional mindset, enhance their practical skills, and build the confidence needed to enter the workforce with readiness and resilience.

The talkshow “Life Stories – Career Insights” once again affirms the vital role of bridging education with industry practice. It stands as clear evidence of the Faculty of Tourism’s and the university’s commitment to accompanying, supporting, and equipping students with a solid foundation to pursue their future careers with confidence.
